Hi Phil,
I’m writing a blog on terminology in the new publishing landscape, in particular the inappropriateness of the terms indie and punk for what some of us are trying to do with high quality bugger the mainstream lit. Having decided the best sphere to look to was not music but the wine industry, and the garage/garagiste revolution of the 80s, I googled garage lit and found your blog post from way back in 2006. I’d love to link to it if you’d be happy for me to – and especially delighted if you had any thoughts on how things have moved on since that original post.
Cheers
Dan

Not sure how things have moved on (or if). Accelerando is still available for free download, so I guess Charlie has made the ‘garage’ model work. But Charlie’s a very bright bloke, and (more to the point) a productive & commercially successful writer – that he can make it work doesn’t necessarily say much for the rest of us.
